The Mental / Psychiatric Health Technician cares for individuals with psychiatric conditions as well as a variety of substance use disorders, following the instructions of physicians, nurses or other health practitioners. The Behavioral Health Technician monitors a patients’ safety, physical and emotional well-being and report directly to medical staff.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Associate’s degree in behavioral studies or related field, or equivalent experience preferred (or per facility requirements)
- Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience preferred
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age

Submission to Start Process:
- Send Email Submission to Jacob Zivanovich. Fill out template and stitch packet as described above.
- BDM will either approve submission or provide feedback.
- Once BDM confirms that submission is approved, please match to the OPEN position correlated with that NEO.
- Get to OM ASAP.
- Inform your HCP that they’ll receive an Interview Link from Montana State Hospital. Interview links are typically sent out 24-72 hours after submission.
- It is highly recommended by the facility to attend the interview. Please Dress Appropriately and introduce yourself and the HCP, no need to stay for the duration of the interview.
- Make sure that HCP is aware of the Time Zone differences for interview. Please see attached form in Position for Video Interview Etiquette. There is not a second chance for that NEO if an interview is missed.
- Once Interview is complete – we wait for offers. Feedback/Offers are typically given about 2-4 weeks before Start Date. Continue Credentialing.
- Once offered, you’ll receive an email from BDM for next steps.
- Send out FDI email (Template will be sent by BDM) and Important Candidate Information.
- Send Compliance as Adobe Stitched PDF to BDM as soon as possible.
