Responsibilities
- First assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures
- Participate in perioperative patient management
- Conduct inpatient rounding and follow-up care
- Perform patient assessments and examinations
- Complete documentation and care coordination activities
- Work closely with surgeons, nursing staff, and ancillary departments
- Participate in scheduled call coverage
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- NCCPA certification
- Active state PA license (or ability to obtain)
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- Recent cardiothoracic surgery experience
- Experience in cardiac surgery procedures
- Strong communication and documentation skills
Preferred Experience
- Surgical first assist experience
- Inpatient cardiothoracic patient management
- Experience with major EMR systems
