Supporting Animal Welfare for International Volunteer Day

In recognition of International Volunteer Day, celebrated on December 5th each year, the Amergis team proudly joined forces with the Maryland Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MDSPCA) for a meaningful day of service that combined compassion and a shared love for animals.

The MDSPCA has long been a cornerstone of animal welfare in Baltimore, providing shelter, medical care, and adoption services for thousands of cats and dogs each year. Their mission goes beyond just rescuing to create a community where every pet has the chance to thrive in a loving home.

Rolling Up Their Sleeves

The team spent the day helping the MDSPCA clean and organize their storage area, a vital space that houses supplies for animals in need. By clearing out and reorganizing, the team created room for donations that directly support pet owners and adopters.

One of the highlights of the day was preparing cat carriers and dog crates to be given away to families adopting pets. These items are more than just equipment, as they serve as tools that help ensure safe and comfortable journeys for animals as they transition into their new homes.

Every crate and carrier prepared for donation represents a pet’s safe passage to a forever home, and every hour spent volunteering reflects our commitment to building a stronger, more compassionate community. After helping to clean up, the L&D team was guided on a tour of the shelter to meet some of the lovely staff and cute adoptable pets!
