A respected health system in the Midwest is seeking an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant to provide ongoing support for a well-established cardiac surgery program. This role includes operating room first assist responsibilities, perioperative patient management, clinic coverage, and shared call.

Clinical Responsibilities
- First assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures
- Pre-operative and post-operative patient management
- Surgical consultation and clinic follow-up
- Vein harvesting and procedural support
- Participation in call rotation
- Collaboration with cardiac surgeons, intensivists, and multidisciplinary care teams
Case Mix
- Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)
- Valve repair and replacement procedures
- Aortic surgery
- Mechanical circulatory support procedures
- Complex and re-operative cardiac surgery cases
Minimum Qualifications
- Board-certified Nurse Practitioner or Physicians Assistant
- Active state license or willingness to obtain licensure
- BLS certification
- Minimum 2 years of recent adult cardiac surgery first assist experience
- Experience with cardiothoracic surgical procedures and perioperative management
- Epic experience preferred
- Trauma center experience preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) experience
- RNFA certification
- Experience with ECMO, Impella, and other advanced cardiac support therapies
- Strong procedure logs and recent operative experience
Ideal Candidate
The ideal provider is a highly autonomous cardiac surgery APP with recent first assist experience who is comfortable in a high-acuity surgical environment and can contribute immediately with minimal onboarding.
