What Makes an Amergis Nurse
For the past 30 years, Amergis Healthcare Staffing has had the privilege to work with some of the most dedicated nurses in the industry. As our team has gotten to know these incredible individuals, we’ve seen that our nurses bring their best effort and enthusiasm to the workplace, even in the face of incredible challenges, such as serving essential roles during the COVID-19 pandemic. They faced and overcame unprecedented obstacles to provide care to those in need.
Our Amergis team is incredibly proud of our healthcare professionals, especially our nurses during Nurses Week this year. We wanted to take a moment and recognize just a few of the many nurses who are committed to helping their patients every day, who are:

Cassidy Edmundson
Cassidy is a travel nurse currently on contract in western Pennsylvania. She was the first nurse that Maria Nicassio, a recruiter with Amergis, was able to meet in person. “Since she has been on assignment with us, she has truly shown great qualities of what week look for in a [Amergis] nurse, including being a hard worker, demonstrating dedication, using effective communication, and being adaptable to changes,” said Nicassio.
Charles Phillips and Karen Chartrand
Charles and Karen are both school nurses in Florida. “What makes them [Amergis] nurses is being dedicated to their roles as clinic school nurses,” said their Recruiter, Joseph Panebianco. As a Recruiter, it’s Panebianco’s job to keep Charles and Karen happy and help them overcome any obstacles that arise.
Ashley Dukes
Ashley was Recruiter Justin Kate’s first that he placed when he began his career with Amergis in 2020. Even when her contract was cut short due to a low census, she informed Kate that she didn’t want to work with any other Recruiter besides him and that she would be willing to wait until another position became available. Kate said, “Ashley’s dedication and work ethic are indescribable. She has always been flexible shifting gears and is always willing to help out when a facility is in need.”
Kate continued, “Ashley has referred numerous people to us and is proud to represent [Amergis]. She is the definition of what a great nurse is and each facility she has been to has offered to extend her multiple times. Ashley is one of the sweetest, most passionate nurses I have ever had the pleasure of working with each week.”
Adriel Davis
Adriel’s strong work ethic, resilience, and compassion make her the ideal example of the servant leadership culture that is the foundation of Amergis’s core principles. In the past year at her current position, Adriel has achieved several promotions, from floor nurse to assistant nurse manager and now interim manager. Dr. Josette Zeilah, Medical Director at the University of Maryland Laurel Medical Center Alternate Care Site stated that while many people and nurses felt particularly discouraged during the pandemic, Adriel “encouraged [the nurses], she guided them” and helped them see that there’s something to fight for in caring for the hospital’s COVID patients. Adriel is also our recipient of the 2021 Healthcare Professional of the Year.
