Amergis’s core values, including diversity and inclusion, create a culture where people from all walks of life can feel heard and valued. One of the many groups at Amergis that we celebrate is our veterans. As November 11 is Veterans Day, a federal holiday that honors the service of all US military veterans, our Diversity and Inclusion Board spoke with four Amergis team members who also happen to be veterans.

Q & A with Bryan Moyer

Bryan is a Marine veteran who is an Account Executive in Dallas. He has been with Amergis since September 2018.

Based on your definition of diversity, how has diversity contributed to you reaching your career goals or achieving success in your current position?

My upbringing, time in the Marines, and professional experiences have exposed me to leaders from all walks of life with their own unique lessons. As someone who comes from a multiracial family, I have experienced the importance of cultivating diversity in all aspects of life. I understand that everyone comes with a different background, and, as a leader, I recognize that those differences only make my team stronger.

Q & A with Tammy Mosley

Tammy is an Amergis Training Specialist for Travel at the Tampa office. She has been an Amergis team member for 16 years and is also a veteran of the US Army.

Veterans Day is November 11, and you proudly served our country. Why is this holiday so important to you?

First of all, the Army made me who I am today, and I am proud to have served. It instilled in me the values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage. The day I joined the Army, it became less about me and more about others. As a soldier, I was part of something much bigger than myself. Everyone has heard the saying, “There is no ‘I’ in ‘team.’” While in basic training, you are broken down as an individual and built back up as part of a team. We are only as strong as our weakest link, and we are always there for each other. The goal was to work together as a team to be the best we could be.

Q & A with Troy Bentley

Troy has been with Amergis for four years and is currently the Senior National Recruitment Manager for MPR in Dallas. His time in the Texas National Guard included working in Military Police.

What advice do you have for employees looking to take on a leadership position or get more involved at Amergis?

Let your boss know, let your leadership know, and let your results show your desire to grow and become a leader.

Q & A with Sydney Stewart

Sydney works in Amergis’s Fayetteville, North Carolina office as a Healthcare Recruiter. Before joining Amergis in March 2022, she served in the United States Navy.

Have you experienced any barriers in the workplace, both in the military and out?

Unfortunately, yes. I think everybody experiences a little bit of that, but it’s definitely more in the service than in healthcare. In the service, I faced a lot of anti-female sentiment because most of the enlisted and officer personnel in the military medical community are of the older generation.

What I really had to do with myself was just to realize that those opinions about me resulted from nothing more than my gender or age. It has nothing to do with me and in no way invalidates my place at the table. My merit and professional abilities are not subjective. They are constant, they are reality, and they cannot be swayed or diminished by narrow-minded individuals, regardless of their station.
