Part-Time Nutritionist (Remote)

Pay: $32/hour
Schedule: Part-time, 2 hours per day, Monday–Friday (flexible timing)

Location: Washington State- Remote (initial in-person orientation required)
Position Overview
We are seeking a licensed Nutritionist / Dietitian to support a short-term partnership with the Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC). This part-time role provides nutritional consultation services focused on assessment, education, and dietary planning in accordance with DOC policies, national nutrition standards, and evidence-based practice.
The Nutritionist will collaborate with medical and departmental staff to support nutritional care delivery while ensuring compliance with therapeutic diet guidelines.
Orientation Requirement
- First day: Mandatory 4-hour in-person orientation
- Laptop provided
- Location: DOC Headquarters, Tumwater, WA
Schedule
- 2 hours per day, Monday–Friday
- Flexible scheduling within standard business hours
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nutritional assessment and consultation services to support individual dietary and therapeutic needs
- Develop and recommend nutrition care plans using medical history, nutritional assessment, medication review, and applicable clinical data
- Support appropriate utilization of therapeutic and modified diets in accordance with DOC policy and clinical guidelines
- Provide nutrition education to patients and staff as appropriate
- Document nutritional assessments, recommendations, and follow-up information per established standards
- Collaborate with medical providers, health services staff, and food service personnel to support continuity of care
- Assist in identifying individuals at nutritional risk and recommend appropriate interventions
- Maintain compliance with confidentiality, documentation standards, and DOC policies
Required Qualifications
- Active certification or licensure as a Nutritionist or Dietitian in the State of Washington
- Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, food and nutrition, or a related field
- Knowledge of medical nutrition therapy and therapeutic diet principles
- Ability to work independently in a structured environment
- Strong communication and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in healthcare, public health, or institutional settings
- Familiarity with correctional healthcare or population-based nutrition services
- Experience providing nutrition education or counseling
Conditions of Employment
- Successful completion of DOC orientation and onboarding requirements
- Criminal background check and felony disclosure as required by DOC
- Completion of any required health screenings or mandatory training
- Ability to comply with DOC policies, procedures, and confidentiality standards

- One year in an acute care environment preferred; experience may be waived for specific positions.
- Current BLS card.
- Level II Same as Level I
- Two years in an acute care environment with one year supervisory experience preferred; experience may be waived for specific positions
- Successful completion of coordinated program or dietetic internship of not less than 900 hours underthe supervision of a Registered Dietitian preferred
- Level I and II must pass The Company testing process
- Current BLS card
- Current physical exam per state or contract regulations.
