The X-Ray Technician / Radiology Technician performs diagnostic procedures and activities to create detailed diagnostic images that aid in the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions. The X-Ray Technician / Radiology Technician collaborates with members of the radiology and health care team to promote total patient care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs all radiologic procedures which are offered by the department, following exam protocols on neonatal, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients
- Completes paperwork and computer related duties
- Assists radiologists, staff physicians, nursing, and hospital personnel with radiological services
- Maintains department facilities, equipment, and materials in a condition to promote efficiency, health, comfort, and safety of patients and staff
- Checks and maintains equipment, supplies and accessories on a regular daily basis and per facility protocol
- Keeps supplies current, clean and replenished
- Processes film, evaluates for technical quality and accurate patient identification and side labeling
- Greets patients, verifies patient identification and physician orders
- Obtains, correlates and documents clinical history, prior to the start of examination
- Transports patients and informs nursing units of patients’ departure and arrival
- Holds medical and other sensitive information in confidence
- Knowledge of radiation safety measures and protection to comply with government regulations
- Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or its equivalent certification.
- Completion of an accredited radiological technology program, community-based college, or hospital-based program if required by state/contract
- State license or certificate where required
- Current ARRT certificate preferred
- Full command, verbal and written, of the English language
- Prefer one-year relevant experience as a radiology technician
- Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency program when applicable
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
