Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)
The Emergency Room RN is a highly skilled and compassionate nursing professional responsible for delivering rapid, comprehensive care to patients experiencing urgent and life-threatening conditions. This role demands strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. The ER RN collaborates with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and support staff to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients with emergent medical needs
· Perform rapid and thorough patient assessments, including triage, vital signs, and health histories
· Administer medications, treatments, and IV therapies as prescribed
· Monitor and document patient responses to interventions and changes in condition
· Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop and adjust individualized care plans
· Prepare patients for diagnostic tests, procedures, and emergency interventions
· Provide care for trauma, cardiac, respiratory, and other critical conditions
· Educate patients and families on treatment plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up care
· Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
· Adhere to infection control, safety, and quality standards
· Respond promptly to emergencies such as cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, or rapid deterioration
· Support patient advocacy and uphold patient rights and confidentiality
Minimum Requirements
· Current Registered Nurse License in the state of practice
· Minimum one year of professional nursing experience; ER experience preferred
· Completion of Amergis' Competency Program (if applicable)
· Current BLS certification (ACLS required; PALS preferred)
· TB screening and health clearance (as required by contract or regulation)
· Compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
· Successful completion of new hire orientation and ER training
· Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations
· Strong communication skills and proficiency in English
· Basic computer literacy
· Must be at least 18 years of age
